When lilacs late in the dooryard bloomed". The only line I know of Walt Whitman's. But surely the lilac bush is the dooryard staple. We have planted 8-10 of them along a border. I expect they will be thick and fragrant for my 90th birthday. They are ok white, but they SHOULD BE that soft purple.

These are the immature grapes that are that greeny purple color. The tips of the vine are still growing. What better serving plate for cheese and crackers with a fine chilled wine?

These stately Lilies grow in fields in high to late summer. Sometimes there are 4-6 blooms on a single stalk.
